"I remember the days of old; I meditate on all that you have done;I ponder the work of your hands. I stretch out my hands to you; my soul thirsts for you like a parched land... Let me hear in the morning of your steadfast love for in you I trust." Psalm 143
I can count the number of weeks until we meet the sweet babe within on two hands.
It's an overwhelming privilege to be called to mother these persons,
to cherish their souls and guard their hearts,
preparing them each uniquely for their journey, their story.
I embrace it fully thankful,
And yet, my spirit faces faces the same old fight we as women battle daily, doubts of inadequacy, insufficiency, aware of my humanity and the unknown ahead.
My own momma told me recently as I cried my concerns to her, "You will simply never have enough time or money to be the parent you think your child needs. And you'll spend the rest of your life trying to figure them out, attempting new approaches, new methods, new strategies.
But most of all, you'll spend the rest of your life praying a lot and praying some more, and then trusting God to provide all for not just you, but them."
How true this has been not just the last six years of being a mother,
but especially in the last few weeks as our plates and minds and hearts have been so full,
living the daily and preparing for what's ahead.
And, I have a good guess that's it's only still just the beginning of what all this parenting thing entails.
But, my God is an anchor of Hope and Life.
How thankful I am that His sufficiency doesn't just begin where mine so inadequately falls short,
but it encompasses all of my greatest hopes and ambitions and surpasses them all still.
“No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined what God has prepared for those who love him.” 1 Corinthians 2:9.
He goes ahead; He goes before.
He covers and knows.
He knits this loved one in my womb,
all for His beautiful glory.
And because of that, I will rejoice over
and testify to
and rest in
